WHY PRACTICE WITH STEPH?
Short Answer: Dominant culture sucks and movement should be fun.
Everybody and every body is unique. We all have our own specific experiences, interests, and abilities that shape who we are. And we're all shaped very differently, even bones vary in shape and proportion between individuals.
Dominant culture is not kind. Capitalism tries to convince us we'd be better off if we fit more tightly into a very specific, ever-changing mold, an ideal that can be achieved for a price.
That's bullshit. Let's change it.
Let's start to acknowledge and embrace the truth of our uniqueness. Let's let go of the harmful, fictitious, judgmental narratives society bombards us with so we can get to know and appreciate ourselves as we are. Yoga provides tools to help us navigate this difficult process.
I encourage compassionate self study through curiosity and present moment awareness to help you tailor a yoga practice to support your current needs and build the freedom and confidence to identify and choose your own challenges.
Practice includes a combination of guided movement, breath work, and meditation with bits of relevant yogic philosophy to build mobility, stability, and strength—both physical and mental. The overarching goals of every session are to expand awareness and to have fun.
